Ceremonies Religious ceremonies
Marriage and civil partnerships can take place in religious buildings, but they have to registered or licenced for this purpose.
If you are having your ceremony in a religious building then they will advise you if you need to give civil legal preliminaries or your banns can be read. If you are unsure of which you need to give please email us at registrars@shropshire.gov.uk. IF YOU BOOK AN APPOINMENT TO GIVE CIVIL PRELIMINARIES AND THAT IS NOT NEEDED YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE A REFUND FOR YOUR APPOINMENT FEE
Some religious buildings will also need a Registrar to attend on the day to complete the legal part of your marriage.
